此習語的意思是吃得飽足,但原本的意思是使人的靈魂滿足。在英王欽定本里,此習語為“eat to their soul’s content”,但在後期出版的新國際譯本里,則翻譯成“eat to their heart’s content”。此習語出自舊約箴言,道出義人追求神的話語,靈命的滿足,但不義的人卻追求物質,而且得不到飽腹。
